Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.

Y’know... Stephen Sommers films are very particular. If you go into one expecting serious, hard-edged horror, you’re always going to walk away disappointed. But if you accept that he’s the master of walking that fine camp line, they can be a lot of fun. With Hugh Jackman onboard and free reign to screw around with Universal’s classic monsters, I can’t see how VAN HELSING will be anything less than fun, at least. And based on some of what we’re hearing, it might be a lot more than that:

Hi there H, I've never dropped you a line before but here's some news from Britain, I had to pass this on from my friend in the big smoke:

Got some goss on the new Hugh Jackman flick we're doing. There's going to be a big fight scene in Dr.Frankensteins lab involving lots of explosions, and flying scientific apparatus. Apparently this maybe the climax, though no one was sure as there is apparently three possible endings, all featuring the three evil creatures, all which lead to a (nearly a sure thing) sequel(s). All the props we built for the lab have been picked up, and they even took a vandengraph we'd made on the off chance.

The buzz on this film is incredible over here, and from what we've seen, this could possibly be, and I don't use the term loosely, the best monster flick ever.

The fight scene's are certainly a interesting take on how to fight legendary monsters, more Buffy than Hammer, but the premise seems to be a winner. Van Helsing will also have a utility belt, more Batman than anything, but it won't be naff, just the stakes and silver bullet firing pistol. Some one made a joke about jump leads to take down Frankenstien, but you never know with Hollywood!

Anyway, back to Harry Potter next week, I'll let you know if anything exciting happens there apart from puberty!!

Hope there's something there for you big man. Oh, and before I go, can i just recommend Mr. Vampire, as the current best monster flick ever??
