Ok, so you start off with a man responsible for some of the best intelligent filmwork, both as a screenwriter and as a director... then you hand the work over to Renny Harlin and throw money into the hemorrage that you caused by kicking Paul off the project. GOOD SHOW WARNERS... Way to cook dem noodles! Yeah, the man behind the thoughts of Travis Bickle, CAT PEOPLE, AFFLICTION, ROLLING THUNDER, LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST, MOSQUITO COAST, AMERICAN GIGOLO and AUTO FOCUS.... and then hand that work over to the man responsible for the oft-delayed MINDHUNTERS, DRIVEN, DEEP BLUE SEA, THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT and CUTTHROAT ISLAND? Well that makes a lot of sense. I have to say, nothing in Renny's career is of a calibre worthy of touching a frame of EXORCIST style work. Almost zero subtlety, zero emotional resonance and a complete lack of being anything more than just a POPCORN flick... Of course, that's probably what Warners is thinking... turn EXORCIST THE BEGINNING into a popcorn flick.... Yeah, they should've done the same to Friedkin back in the Seventies... Bring in someone with more POP-sensibilities... that'll help.

I’ve just got this directly fromMorganCreek, but Renny Harlin is taking over the Exorcist helm from fired director Paul Schrader. The reshoots will indeed start at the end of November, with a budget of 8 million dollars. Warner Bros andMorganCreekhope to release the movie in April/may of the next year.
