I am – Hercules!!

THE BIG SAD
Those thinking that Lindsey was out of the running as “Angel’s” fifth-season big bad were almost certainly right. After Fred is killed, Team Angel decides it needs to recruit someone who might know more than they do about the senior partners. So guess who they rescue from a Wolfram-engineered purgatory?

THE L.A.
In an “O.C.” episode titled “The L.A.,” Seth Cohen will rescue Summer from a lecherous TV actor, and Jimmy Cooper will rescue Seth’s Aunt Hailey from her new job as a stripper. Marissa’s jock ex-boyfriend, Luke, meanwhile, will celebrate February sweeps by having sex with Marissa’s mom.

SAILING THE RIVER TAM
Buzz inside certain Los Angeles law firms suggests that talent contracts are being hammered out, and they’re timed around a May start for an upcoming Universal feature about a starship captain, a space hooker, a mysterious preacher and a pair of fugitives named Tam. The bad news: under the scenario discussed, “Firefly: The Movie” wouldn’t hit multiplexes until late 2005.

BRUCE WAYNE: THE ANIMATED SERIES. Variety and TV Guide reported Monday morning that the WB will launch yet another new animated look at the caped crusader, this one titled “The Batman. It's said to depict Bruce’s first encounters with The Joker, Penguin and Catwoman. It arrives at the WB this autumn.

GOT MYSELF A BOAT
A young reader named Jennifer writes: “Did you get a look at this? This is one of the most haunting images I've seen for a television show. But then again, this is the Sopranos.....”

GODS AT ENDS
To no one’s surprise, it looks like Ron Moore’s smash revival of “Battlestar Galactica” is going back into production. The big question: Has SciFi ordered six episodes of the space actioner, or 13? … Though the promos made it look like Friday’s “Ed” was the series’ last episode ever, NBC officials insist there’s no decision as to whether or not “Ed” is dead, baby.

REALITYRAMA
Word that Paris Hilton is pursing her next Fox reality series as a solo act has proven false; she will reteam with Nicole Ritchie for “Simple Life 2,” which will find the heiresses traversing the heartland in a Winnebago. … Spike has ordered ten hours of “Joe Schmo 2”; the new series may subject some nitwit to a faux “American Idol” or “Bachelor” this time around. … NBC has ordered a second season of “The Apprentice”; this version will air in the fall. … “American Idol 3,” “America’s Next Top Model 2” and “The Surreal Life 2” are giant hits for their respective networks, though the Rudy-boot episode of “Survivor” was narrowly defeated by a supersized “Friends.”
