Some more news about Godzilla in Sydney.

From news.com.au

SYDNEY'S most famous landmarks are expected to feature in the latest Godzilla remake with Japanese filmmakers spending the next two days filming in the harbour city. The Japanese production by Toho Pictures Inc and its Australian production company CP International will complete shooting tomorrow.

They will then head to Japan, New York, Shanghai and Paris to complete the rest of the film, which is the 28th remake of the 1954 classic.

NSW Small Business Minister David Campbell said it was a great thing that Sydney would feature in what was likely to be the final Godzilla film.

"This time Godzilla will be out there highlighting renowned Sydney landmarks as he rampages around the world fighting other monsters," Mr Campbell said in a statement.

"We all fondly remember Godzilla movies and it will be great to see that Sydney will be part of this farewell."

The film's director, Ryuhei Kitamura and international scene director Takakazu Katatsu both graduated from the Sydney School of Visual Arts in Surry Hills.

"It's yet another example of the skills and abilities found within our local industry which has recently been involved in three other international productions, Mask II, Stealth and Dynasty - Behind the Scenes," Mr Campbell said.

Mr Campbell said the the film has employed about 70 Australian crew with 13 crew travelling from Japan. Godzilla first became globally renowned after rising out of the sea and swimming to Japan after being awakened by a US hydrogen bomb test at Bikini Atoll in the South Pacific in March 1954 - in a film, that is.
