SzuBoy On KING KONG, NARNIA, And More!!

Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...

I think this guy’s e-mail, sent over three separate days, speaks for itself. Check this out:

Hey Harry,

Here's the backstory. I work for a very large company that is looking to do some advertising tie-ins with some upcoming movies. So far Sony Pictures has already presented. They showed a trailer to the new Bewitched movie, I didn't get to catch that.

However, after Sony left. The next presenter was Universal. And right of the bat, they used the biggest gun in their arsenal. Big as in 25-foot tall gorilla big. Yes, we're talking KONG. There was no trailer. The 3-minute video I saw was an interview with Peter Jackson. The video also showed a lot of behind the scenes work and artist renderings, mainly on the KONG himself.

Bare with me, this is what I can remember.

1. KONG will be 25-feet tall.

2. KONG will be motion-captured by an actual actor. Exactly like what was done with Gollum. No actor was named.

3. KONG will have scars on his body. Especially a very large one across the right side of his face. Peter Jackson explains that reason for the scars is that KONG has been in a battle for survival his entire life on his home. The scar was given to him by an evolved T-Rex (I get to this later).

4. There will be dinosaurs in this movie. Peter Jackson said that it was fun creating new dinosaurs. Jackson also said that the dinosaurs in this movie are not historically accurate, but then how accurate is a 25-foot ape.

5. A short animatic was shown of KONG fighting a T-Rex. Basically, KONG hits the T-Rex with a back hand and then wrestles the T-Rex to the ground.

Well, that's it for now. Fox is coming in next with their Robots and Fantastic Four stuff.

I'll check in again.

I’ve heard descriptions of Kong-on-dinosaur action in this film that will melt your brains. I’m itching for the first bit of moving footage. If what I see is half as cool as what I heard, this film will make us all complete six-year-olds when it hits screens. HURRY UP, NEXT CHRISTMAS!!!

I just sat through Fox's presentation. The main meat of it was the Robots movie. A lot of footage was shown along with an interview with the director. Nothing much new to report.

Next up, Fantastic Four, I saw the same footage the was up on your site a while back, I wasn't too keen on seeing The Torch fly. As for Mr. Fantastic, the footage never actually shows him stretch. They were all still shots. We do get a glimpse of the Thing in a trench coat and hat. I believe this was a signature Ben Grimm disguise.

Next up, Ice Age 2. I saw a lot of stills, but that was it.

Next up, Disney.

He hit us back almost immediately:

I'm back. Just sat through Disney's presentation. Most of it was not of major interest. I saw a small glimpse of Chicken Little. The new Vin Diesel movie called "The Pacifier", think Kindergarten Cop with Riddick in it instead of the Terminator. A brief look at Cars, blech.

But here's the cream of the crop and Disney's answer to the future lack of Pixar.

The Chronicles of Nainia. The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.

There are seven books in the series. Disney is going to make a franchise out of these. The presentation focused on the history of the books. We do get to see the children. One photo of the White Witch with icicles out of the top of her head, sort of like a crown. WETA will be doing the creatures in this one. That's great news. The showed a short animatic of a possible CG battle. If you can picture the Battle at Pellnor Fields from ROTK with minotaurs, centaurs, and griffins, that's what it looked like.

That's it for now.

Paramount and MGM are next.

I go now.

Call me SzuBoy.

Curious to see what else he gets a look at. For now, thanks for this, Szuboy.

"Moriarty" out.
