Hey folks, Harry here with an update on this. Word I'm getting is that Clive is absolutely not involved and that Moviehole's info is somewhat bogus. Personally - that would be cool, sadly though it doesn't seem to be true!
Erroneous Rumor follows...
Harry here... POSEIDON ADVENTURE was the second movie I ever saw. (fyi, the first was CLOCKWORK ORANGE - age 2 weeks - word has it, I didn't like loud Beethoven) And according to my parents I smiled and was happy throughout. So - it was officially the first movie I loved in the first few weeks of my life on Planet Earth. 33 years later, they're remaking it. Mark Protosevich on script. Wolfgang Petersen behind the camera... and taking the role that Gene Hackman fucking owns... is Clive Owen. Now - if they get Gene to play the older traditionalist preacher, that'd kinda kick holy ass. Is Clive up for it? F'n A! Watch him in CLOSER, the close to the chest furor and outrage... the tenderness and charisma... He's a very strong choice. Having said that, not really sure of the point in remaking this story. The original is perfect in my estimation.

the gorgeous Clive Owen is the first cast member to be announced for "The Poseidon Adventure" remake.
He's going to play the role of Rev Frank Scott, originally played by Gene Hackman in the 1972 original
He'd be a great Bond, but this could be just as good.
