Delay of expanded STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE soundtrack resolved !!!
|
Glen the Coaxial guy here…
Regular AICN readers may remember an article I posted here on Harry’s part of the site few weeks back, which detailed the perpetually delayed release of an "expanded" & remastered CD of Jerry Goldsmith’s magnificent score to STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE. The original article (and a review of the product) can be accessed by clicking here.
Said article suggested that internal political considerations at Paramount (STAR TREK’s home) had delayed the late November release of the expanded score, and characterized the most recent delays as "indefinite".
Accordingly, I encouraged STAR TREK fans and soundtrack collectors to make their opinions on this known to Paramount, as both groups had been enduring four years of announced release dates which were…inexplicably…not met.
Perhaps our voices were heard?
I am *delighted* to report that all indications suggest Paramount has now resolved its internal logjam, and all concerned with this product are now considering January 26, 1999 as the new (and official) release date for the STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE expanded CD.
At this time, it appears all of the elements which had interfered with the project’s release in the past have now been resolved. And while there’s always a margin for error, it seems as if the targeted in-store date of January 26 will be achieved without a hitch.
