SUPERMAN LIVES stuff...

Folks, here's a fairly cool development in the Superman film... IF TRUE, and I'm not gonna say it is, till I get more word on this Alex Ford reworking and where that stands. Personally, I like that angle best of all, if true. The latest I have heard is that SIMON WEST (CON-AIR) is the leading candidate for the director's chair for this film. I'm sure you all have an opinion on that as well as this scoop here....

JON PETERS commissioned writers such as AKIVA GOLDSMAN, KEVIN SMITH, RONALD BASS, DAN GILROY and ALEX FORD to rework the SUPERMAN project.

All of them polished the existing script except FORD, an avid comic fan who wrote an entirely new draft with the premise this would be the first in an ongoing franchise.

FORD's theory is not to kill off villains (as in the BATMAN films) and plot out character development and storylines so the series knew where it was going rather than one film at a time. He firmly believed killing SUPERMAN in the first installment was pointless and preferred it be done somewhere around the sixth film (where the franchise may need a shot in the arm). He plotted a "franchise map" of where the series should go (a brief synopsis of villains goes something like: I: METALLO, II: BIZARRO, III: BRAINIAC, IV: SILVER BANSHEE, V: MR MXYPTLK with VI being THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN and ending with SUPERMAN dead (in a nod to HAN SOLO in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK) and resurrecting him and completing the story with VII: an adaption of the DEATH sequel HUNTER/PREY and including DARKSEID (and suggested VING RHAMES and I thought this was a great idea). LUTHOR would be featured in most of these films in some form or another (he compared him to BLOFELD in the BOND movies) but is adamantly against the TWO-VILLAIN formula which he believes has killed the BATMAN franchise.

PETERS had no idea who these villains were and rejected the idea for deviating from the original parameters but not before a draft was completed.

HARRY NOTE: This sounds accurate as hell given Jon Peters is the guy who didn't know who Kal-el was, and wanted friggin POLAR BEARS to guard the Fortress of Solitude, he nixed the heroes turning out for Supes' funeral.... ARGH!!! Somebody at Warners, get this property and project out of his Hands PLEASE!!! Now back to Megadeath Dc...

I have read this draft and it is amazing. MORE INFO SOON
