Miramax to remake HARVEY

According to Variety today, Miramax has picked up the rights to the classic Jimmy Stewart film... HARVEY. According to the article, it says Weinstein is looking at Adam Sandler or Jim Carrey or Tom Hanks to play the role of Elwood P Dowd.

My god... A remake of HARVEY? There are very few films in existance as perfect as HARVEY. The original classic is... perfection. And Jimmy Stewart is brilliant as Elwood P Dowd. The concept of Adam Sandler's mug or even Carrey's mug fills me with shivers of fear. Though I feel there is absolutely under no circumstances any need whatsoever for a remake of this film... The only actor on the planet, who currently exists, who is even an ingrown hair on St Stewart's ass for the role of Elwood is Tom Hanks. In my opinion, if Miramax can't get him... then they should lock the rights up in a vault somewhere never to be made again.

The fears of wrong turns on this project are sooooo gigantic. We don't need to see Harvey at any point in the film, that's what Jar Jar in THE PHANTOM MENACE is for. Because nothing... absolutely nothing that any computer generators can conjure can match the stunning beauty and majesty that our imaginations have conjured for Harvey. Number 2. No invisible Rabbit shit please.

Wait a second... I've already gotten myself afraid of this project. DON'T DO IT! Instead, why don't you actually announce a release date for DOGMA, and show that you guys at Miramax are still the cutting edge suave smart business men that released the classic films of yore instead of just the 'soft' films.

My God... They are actually considering remaking and modernizing this film. GAWD!!! Why? It's sooooo perfect as is. Can Hanks or Carrey or Sandler even do the sweet beautiful looks of innocence and purity that Stewart did? Should they even try?

God... I don't know. I could just see them approaching Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Rodney Dangerfield, etc... NOoooo..... Garsh... I just don't know... Why? I don't get it. Finance an indie movie with an original concept. Buy 12 foreign films. Finance the next ad campaign for your next Best Picture.... but why... why remake Harvey?

I mean... can anyone say "I always have a wonderful time, wherever I am, whomever I'm with" better than Jimmy?
