SIMPSONS.... THE MOVIE!

You know... there's a part of me that would love to go to the theater and just watch the Simpson family's couch for 8 hours... just like the classic Warhol film, but with a Simpson edge. Just have Homer sitting there...watching us... Blinking... drool forming from time to time... Every now and again the phone would ring... And he'd eat while staring at us... apple sauce covered pork chops... I tell ya... I'd just plain laugh for 8 hours straight. I would. Believe me.

The sitcom's producers say they're ready to make the jump to the big screen. That's what the show's exec producer, Mike Scully, told Steve Martin, Martin Short, Bill Maher, Janeane Garofalo and Barry Levinson and the rest of the crowd gathered to watch the first-ever live performance of the show starring Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival on Thursday night in Aspen.

Dear Harry;

I was at a lecture/performance by Harry Shearer (voice of Montgomery Burns, Wayland Smither, Ned Flanders, and many others) in San Francisco last night, and during the question and answer section of the evening, he mentioned (very much in passing) that it looked like a Simpsons movie would happen. He said nothing else about it, though he did comfirm that Maggie Roswell was fired for asking for more money.

call me Chekhov.
