Hey folks, Harry here.... As many of you are aware... I was a bit underwhelmed by the X-MEN teaser trailer that came out this weekend... And in particular I was upset at the 'mere redness' that seemed to be CYCLOP's power. We all felt that this was probably some sort of 'temp effect' or some on set atmospherics with a cg beam to be added later. But never in a million years would we suspect the truth, as told by the film's producer... Lauren Shuler Donner below...

Harry, we do have Cyclops shooting a beam out of his visor, but the MPAA made us take it out of the teaser. They said it didn't qualify for the PG rating all teasers must have. Pretty lame, I know. Also, Storm's eyes are temporary - they will look more natural for the film.

Alright... nice to hear for sure that Cyclop's optic blast will indeed be more than what was in the trailer. BUT... Once again the hidieous organization known as the MPAA has struck again! Somehow... a optic blast contained in a trailer immediately takes it to PG-13 material.

This is THE most random act of MPAA vandalism I have yet heard of. Alright, I can understand being picky about Doggy-Style love making and confusing it with Anal Sex in AMERICAN PSYCHO. I can understand the overage of gore in the blowing away of Weller in ROBOCOP. But... Optic Blasts take you out of PG-land?

Upon great contemplation, I have decided that the MPAA is right. I mean, the last thing that the world needs is a bunch of kids actually optic blasting buildings and cars. Next thing we know... some disenfranchised child at some high school will walk into class and shoot a red beam of concussive destructive power there by annihilating his fellow students and faculty. And God forbid children under the age of 13 be exposed to the fact that ANYONE can cause destructive optic blasts. When a child is ordered to stand in the corner... he'll just blow a hole in the wall.

This isn't a gun or sex or titties or even a horrid penis. This is an OPTIC BLAST! Something that no matter how hard you want to be able to do, you can't do. The Braniacs of the world can't even invent something that'll even emulate an optic blast.

Sigh.

Wait a second! Are you telling me that a Naked Blue Lady With Some Punk Ass Red Hair is PG, but an Optic Blast isn't?
