UPDATE! By the way, you might have noticed that you can't save this to disk, and it won't load into your browser cache for extraction. Now WHY would New Line do this? Well, my guess is that this is actually Apple's doing. You see, for a long time, it's been seeming like they wanted to move into the convergence space, broadcasting over the internet, but there's always been one HUGE concern for content providers...control of distribution, including copyrights, etc.. So what this looks like to me, is a proof of concept piece. Apple's saying hey...we can distribute any content securely over the internet and give you total control of distribution. Now if this is the case, this particular download is an historic event...a milestone in the march toward convergence.

Hey, another update, PC users report that they can get this in their Windows file cache...read talkback for details. Well, there's another reason to fire up Virtual PC...I guess because QuickTime isn't tied to the OS in Windows like it is with Macs, they've got greater control over these things, and that particular loophole in Windows slipped through the cracks. By the way, a fine fellow emailed me his procedure for getting the direct movie URL:

"i had exactly the same problem, and this is what i did:

-add movie to your favourites

-locate your quicktime preference file

(\windows\system\quicktime.qtp)

-load it to notepad and find url"

Looks like this works on Macs too...Well, looks like there are two loopholes to close, this and the windows file cache thingie described in talkback. Anyway, enjoy the screen caps below:
