X-MEN cast cover of EW

Just wanted to give you a heads up on next week's double issue of Entertainment Weekly--the magazine's annual Summer Movie Preview. The issue is packed with buzz on 137 new movies, and features a gatefold cover of "The X-Men" (the entire main cast in costume).

EW speaks to Bryan Singer, Patrick Stewart, and Hugh Jackman about such topics as why the director chose the project, how it felt to be filming the movie without what is essentially the lead character (after Dougray Scott had to bow out, and before Hugh Jackman stepped in), and Jackman's go-for-broke commitment to the volatile role of Wolverine. Jackman, in fact, took cold showers to find his character's berzerk edge--which is perhaps why no one rushed to his aid when he got his testicles twisted in a harness while shooting a 6-foot fall. "I said the biggest swear word I ever let out, and then nothing happened," says Jackman. "Everyone thought I was just really getting into it."

In addition, the magazine speaks to other stars and filmmakers involved in the season's biggest films--including Robert Zemeckis, who comments on the Internet theories and "scoops" about his psychological thriller, "What Lies Beneath": "In a world of constant information," says Zemeckis, "hopefully that doesn't mean it's impossible to make a movie like this. That would be criminal."

I have enclosed a copy of the issue's cover in this e-mail, featuring the X-Men's "Good Guys." The cover folds out to reveal "The Bad Guys."

Also, Entertainment Weekly Online (www.ew.com) will be featuring more info. on summer movies as of this Friday evening. Next week, the web site will add more new X-Men photos. I'll be sure to let you know when those will be going up.
