JACKIE CHAN and Tsui Hark news from Ye Meng
Father Geek here posting another far east report from Ye Meng, fast becoming the Ozymandias of that part of the world, and I love it. Give us a dozen reporters like Ye and Ozy and AICN will rule the entertainment scooping world. Here's Ye's latest...
Ye is here!
Yesterday, Jackie Chan showed up at a news conference
in Hong Kong. During the conference, Ying Huang (?)
Film Group announced a plan of making The Higbinders
with Jackie Chan next September. As a "Hollywood
movie", according to the company, it has the
investment of $40 million US (record-breaking in Hong
Kong?). Jackie Chan has become a non-executive
director of the company. Also, Rush Hour II will
officially start its shooting on November 13th in Hong
Kong. I apologize for not being able to provide you
more info. Looks like the reporters had kept their
focus on a rumored scandal involving Jackie Chan and a
young girl despite Jackie's "no comment " tactics.

At least three projects will keep Tsui Hark busy next
year. The first one is a love story with Hong Kong
star Leslie Cheung (Farewell, My Concubine) as the
leading man. The second one is Xi You Ji (A Journey to
the West), which had been planned for many years. Xi
You Ji is a centuries old novel with a fantasy tale of
a Chinese monk (Tang Seng) and three of his disciples,
the Monkey King (Sun Wu Kong), a pig (Zhu Ba Jie) and
Sha He Shang, travelling to India for sacred Buddhist
books. It is full of stories of gods, monsters, devils
and witches. Leslie Cheung will likely play the Monkey
King. The third project is Black Mask II without Jet
Li.
