Marcus Aurelius now ponders HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS

Hey folks, Harry here... Now on Aurelius' last report, 3000 MILES TO GRACELAND, he was (as 90% of positive review writing reviewers are) labeled a studio shill because his review was the direct opposite of Gregor Samsa's amazingly strong negative review. Well, before I get into this review... I want to clear that up a bit. Turns out that NRG held 2 seperate screenings of 3000 MILES on the same night. My understanding was they were two totally different cuts... one is being labeled the Kurt Russell cut, and the other is being called the Kevin Costner cut. From the two reviews, I can't tell you which version each writer saw... But that could be the reason for the radical shift in feelings for the film. NOW... So you know... Marcus has submitted reviews in the past... but I usually wait a bit before putting everyone's reviews up... check them out... see if they write multiples.... what films, what results... that sort of thing, so I have context. And now, we have his GRINCH review. This isn't really spoiler filled, but... it is an odd review. Ultimately he was dissatisfied with the film, but at the same time he liked an awful lot about it. Seems that the film is causing some people to love it... this according to his droogs... Anyways... we should be hearing more soon.. Here ya go...

Hey Harry

I saw 'The Grinch' or 'How the Grinch stole Christmas" last night in Century City. We are unsure of the official title and Movieview told us that we were the first audience in the world to see this film. I believe this was a press screening based on the seating arrangements and the lack of a survey at the end.

Ron Howard directed it, but it seems more like a Tim Burton film. It's typical Jim Carrey and one of his best roles to date. The special effects were terrific and they certainly paid millions for the sets. I wanted to like this film but it just didn't work for me. Maybe if I were six years old and digged Barney and green eggs and ham I'd feel different. I attended with many friends and each person had a different reaction to the film. One guy loved the film, another thought it was okay and some others didn't know what they felt.

It was funny seeing Jim all green and furry with big eyebrows. The hair on his fingers must of been a result of excessive chicken choking. There is no violence at all and the language was suitable for the Disney Channel. Anthony Hopkins narrated and Clint Howard had a supporting role (care for a cup of Tranya). Jeffrey Tambor was okay as the Mayor of Whoville. The eight year old Grinch (Josh Ryan Evans) was very funny. We see him with bits of toilet paper on his face after trying to shave off his beard. I know Molly Shannon is in the film but I don't remember her character.

The who's of whoville all had dog faces with weird noses. They looked like the doctors and nurses from that old Twilight Zone about a patient who had bandages on her face until the end. I believe the patient was in Beverly Hillbillies and she's beautiful and everybody else looks like who's. This shouldn't give little kid nightmares. The kids in the audience all seemed to enjoy it and most adults were laughing too, myself included. Ron added enough adult material to keep me interested. There's a funny scene where the Grinch plays a director and he's telling Little Cindy Lou-Who (Taylor Momsen) what her motivation is. I know I'm supposed to fell happy at the end, but I didn't. I felt happy when I first saw Scrooged in 1988. Regardless, I think this film will earn the gross national product of a small country. If kids stop screaming for a Happy Meal, they'll scream to see this flick. Adults might want to practice meditation.
