Hey folks, Harry here with the latest rumor du jour on Larry Niven's RINGWORLD film, which back in early November we heard was set to become Phil Tippett's directorial debut! Well, now it seems things are beginning to actually take form... According to the latest rumor, Chow Yun Fat has been approached for a part in the film, and the budget is getting to a point where it is conceivable to roll cameras. It sounds as though Phil's movie is starting to move.... let's just hope the bog that is Hollywood gets out of his way... Phil can really do something great with this material! Here's the scoop...

I work from time to time with (Someone Involved In The Film) and he (has a point of association) to "Ringworld" (as you know the movie is now in the planning phases) - rumor now has it that due to his performance (and the box-office #s) of "CTHD" that Chow Yun Fat has been approached to play Louis Wu in the new film. He has read the book and is interested...a first draft script has been finished as well with producers trying for a budget of $75 to $80 million...kind of small..another reason to look outside of Hollywood for their stars...the "greenlight" and shooting start dates should be announced by 3/00 (if the strike does not put things back - even if it does..SFX work might begin before cameras roll).

My source is pretty reliable and not a "spin master" so I put some stock into this...but this is unconfirmed.
