F.J.Ackerman Action Figure, THE TICK, and BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

A happy Tyr's Day from your friend El Cosmico, here are some blobs of blurb what my plow plopped 'pon.

First, there's a petition up to get a Forrest J. Ackerman action figure, which, I think we all agree would kick a lot of stuff expediently. Hey, you should probably go add your name to this petition. Go now, you ungrateful bastards!

Next, a fine reader, our pal Mike, sends word of his experiences with a television set:

As I watched the first half of the NFC Championship Game, I was tortured by the mind-numbing ineptitude of the Viking's defense. The Detroit Lions beat the Giants this year for gosh sake! The only thing that saved me from a non-invasive lobotomy was a 30 second spot starring a really big blue guy. He was trying to pick up a lady in a sleazy bar. As he twirled around one of those paper umbrellas, he said to her, "I'd sure like to see the little guy who left this behind."

Then the voiceover started, "Coming soon to Fox..." and the classic Tick logo pops up on the screen.

Not much, but at least we have official confirmation that the big blue guy is coming. And Fox saw fit to advertise for him during a top rated show.

Indeed, the big blue fellow IS coming, and the fine folks at New England Comics have some fine photos of the cast. From the looks of it, Captain Liberty is sporting some wicked high heels. As she should be.

Next, our friend Chris, president of the Battlestar Galactica Fan Club, which can, of course be found at http://www.battlestarfanclub.com, has kindly asked us to pass the following sequence of what some have described for one reason or another as "ass-key" along to you, now view the result:

********** The Story So Far.... *******************

The Sci-Fi Channel may be considering a new Battlestar Galactica series!!

It's our hope to someday soon announce the return of "Battlestar Galactica." Specifically, "Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming" with the original cast, crew, themes -- plus some new ones, too.

Regrettably, reliable sources have indicated that the Sci-Fi Channel (U.S.) has recently considered bringing back "Battlestar Galactica." And may be proceeding with a new production effort at this time.

In a nutshell:

- A new "Battlestar Galactica" with various ships of the fleet, but no battlestar. No, we're NOT kidding.

- A main starship with biodomes. (The "new" Galactica? An unintentional retread of "The Starlost"??)

- NO involvement from Richard Hatch nor Glen A. Larson.

Additionally, SciFi.com's S.C.I.F.I. World has posed the question this week. The timing is TOO coincidental: "How viable would a new Battlestar Galactica series be today?"

http://www.scifi.com/scifiworld/

Fans are asked to post to the Sci-Fi Channel's site. Over 200 individual postings are made in less than 12 hours. Sci-Fi's InterGalacticLand bulletin board (coincidentally) also asks, as it's discussion topic, "How viable would a new Battlestar Galactica series be today?" 100% of the answers are YES. 99% of the responses are pro-Richard Hatch. And postings continue to be made, in support of Battlestar's return staying true to the original series, not a remake or alteration of the series.

We want to STRONGLY recommend that you speak up. If you have ever wanted "Battlestar Galactica" brought back speak your peace NOW.

Hmm...without a Battlestar? Well, if you feel that this will affect your life, and it very well may (that Viper pilot jacket in your closet could come back in fashion!), then you should, of course, be responsible and make your feelings known to the appropriate channels of feeling...reception. Or something.

Got something to add to the pile? Chuck it our way like the mad monkeys you are.
