A brief report about HARRY POTTER!

Hey folks, Harry here with a report on HARRY POTTER from Colin who has been scurrying about getting tidbits for all of us and answers the question of the TWO TITLES / TWO MOVIE debate! Meanwhile, very soon expect an interview between Quint and the Screenwriter of HARRY POTTER, Steven Kloves!!! Here ya go....

I have a just a small tidbit of news about the Harry Potter movie. The crew filmed a few scenes at Kings Cross train station in London on Sunday 14th Jan. I was one of the extras (of which there were many) and the Police and security were very tight. Unfortunatley I couldnt make out what was being filmed as it looked like they were filming the station very populated. I did see some of the main cast there but they must have been used in another shot as I never got to see them during the shoot.

Also, there is a lot of confusion on the net about 2 different titles of the movie and 2 possible versions. I can clear this up easily as I got the whole lowdown from the production supervisor and one of the assistant directors.

Here goes: This movie is based on the very first Harry Potter book which was called 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' released in the UK, then Australia and other various countries. This is what Warner Bros are calling the movie, its the name on the production notes, call sheets and all other promotional literature, posters, etc.

When the book was released later in the US it was retitled 'Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone', apparently for reasons only the author and publisher seem to know. therefore, this is the title of the movie in the States so as not to create confusion for those americans that have already read the book. Because the website was developed by WB's web crew in the US, it is also called Sorcerer's Stone there. Therefore, there are no different versions of the movie. The US will have exactly the same product as everyone else. The only difference being the name. :)

Maybe someone can shed some light on why the name 'Sorcerer's Stone' is being used instead of its real title in the first place??

Hope that helped :)

Colin
