George Huang and that remake of HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER!!!

Hey folks, Harry here with news about that George Huang (SWIMMING WITH SHARKS director) directed remake of HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER. So far I've been watching this series of remakes of classic b-horror/sci-fi flicks with trepidation at all times.

Why? I mean, gosh these remakes have higher budgets, better effects work guaranteed by Stan Winston's studios... What's the worry?

Well, it is like this. George Huang, the man behind the awesome SWIMMING WITH SHARKS loves the genre of Horror and Sci-Fi. He used to work behind the scenes amongst all of that TALES FROM THE CRYPT - Joel Silver offices... till he made his first film. Then later he wrote a fantastic science fiction script that Dimension just couldn't grasp apparently called NEEDLE IN A TIMESTACK... one of the best time travel scripts I've read. Now, it isn't George's lack of love for material I've got concerns about... believe me, on the set of THE FACULTY, where he was the on-set script superhero, I got to know ol Giggle-Boy quite well. He's a BIG TIME fan.

Sooo... What me worry? A tad. You see this remake of the classic HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER seems to bare very little similarities with the original. This one is about a team of folks that are attempting to make the scariest video game monster of all time. But of course the monster pulls a anti-TRON and pops out of the computer and into the real world to plague and maim and cause general mayhem and destruction.

Ok, so depending on how it works, it has one monster. What I love about the original, was that it was a story about the world's greatest monster makeup man that seeks revenge by using magical make up makeup and creating real monsters to do his bidding. And behind him are the busts of all his great monsters... the saucermen.... the she-creature.... teenage frankenstein and on and on and on.... Truly great. He had both a TEENAGE WEREWOLF and TEENAGE FRANKENSTEIN running madly after folks.

From what I can tell there is no devious, I DID IT ON PURPOSE bit.... no greatest make-up man.... no two monsters.... and is all caused by accident? Well, I'm glad it is different, I just wish it had a different title and was simply not trying to supplant or pay homage (depending which you like) to the classic old flick. So far he's cast the Blue Power Ranger and Sabertooth... which is just odd casting thus far... I hope it's fun... that's all... just fun.
