Herschell Gordon Lewis To Direct A New Film!!! Ever had an Egyptian Feast' Want another'

Hey folks, Harry here and I was wondering, Have you ever had... An Egyptian Feast? I have, at the Alamo Drafthouse when I saw Herschell Gordon Lewis' BLOOD FEAST projected on screen during a delightful GORE Fest last year... There simply are not enough filmmakers in the world that truly understand the glory of full on gore done for the joy of disturbing the hell out of people. It isn't death fantasy... it is about 'getting somebody's goat'. For me at least, I treat GORE like an old crank up handbuzzer... a whoopee cushion. And a filmmaker like Herschell Gordon Lewis as the man making me flinch, twitch and go, "Eeeewwwwwwww" as the man pulling the strings. Sure it's hard to look at... but that's kinda the whole point. It's about how much you can take and when do you have to close your eyes and for how long... I AM DYING TO SEE HGL DO A SEQUEL FILM TO BLOOD FEAST! Hehehehe, I can't believe it... a new Herschell Gordon Lewis film?!?!?!?! What wonderful times we live in!!!

Hi Harry ...

Jeez I forgot, and how could I have forgotten. Let me just chop off my hand ...

The greatest news Mellow and Hannibal scooped up during the Brussels Film Festival was the scoop that "Godfather of Gore" Hershell Gordon Lewis, at the tender age of 75, is going to direct again.

You may remember him from such films as "The Gore-Gore Girls", "Miss Nymphet's Zap-Inn", "She-Devils on Wheels" and "Monsters A Go-Go".

We had the chance to meet the master face-to-face, and boy is he nice. He reminded me a lot of my own grandfather, except for the fact that mine doesn't talk about tongues getting ripped out is if it were the most normal thing in the world ...

Mr Lewis talked about the fact that he was so surprised that people still enjoy his films (he was there to host a retrospective of four of his best films.

He also told us that he was getting a lot of offers for directing gore-movies, but that he wasn't really interested until a script for Blood Feast 2 came along with which he was reasonably happy, although, he said, that it wasn't quite how he would have written it.

Still that's not going to stop him from directing his first film since the 1972 quickie Black Love.

Mr Gordon told us that shooting would begin this summer in June, but he didn't know when (if ever) it is going to be released. He told us that he was really happy with the fact that he could direct again, since the directing-itch has never disappeared. Let's hope it turns out good ...

that's the last word from me this year, see you next time ...

sincerely

Hannibal
