Ted Tally Turns In RED DRAGON Script!!!!

Hey folks, Harry here... In today's Hollywood Reporter, hidden away from the eyes of man, buried deep in an article about De Laurentis' ALEXANDER THE GREAT project... more on that later.... Was a tidbit of news about the above book and his development slate.

Initially when I heard that RED DRAGON was being adapted, I was so excited because a good Charlie Chan film has been a long time in coming, though I admit the casting of Anthony Hopkins left me a bit perplexed, but then I thought... Bold Choice! But soon I realized that they were talking about the remake of Michael Mann's MANHUNTER and the adaptation of RED DRAGON into the Anthony Hopkins series of Lecter Movies.

Now, I'm not sure if you love MANHUNTER or loathe it, but many actually prefer Mann's adaptation of RED DRAGON to either SILENCE OF THE LAMBS or the recent HANNIBAL... Personally I've always favored Hopkins' Lecter flicks... but that's just me. The news that came in that got me all excited was that Ted Tally had finished his script!

Now this means this won't be no rinky dink putt putt up a hill adaptation, but a pretty damn fine piece of work, as Ted Tally was the screenwriter that nabbed an adaptation oscar for his SILENCE OF THE LAMBS script. This script is now... officially going to be one of the most sought after scripts to read in Hollywood right now. Already I can fell the vibrations from Moriarty's nostrils from a thousand plus miles away as he begins to sniff this one out!

And it seems that Hopkins is willing to do it (he'll be playing younger we assume unless Tally has done major adaptive changes). What is unknown is who will direct. Will they go back to Demme? Or perhaps to Ridley Scott? Or perhaps someone altogether new. I mean, can you imagine if Dino were able to get a David Fincher involved? Or a Christopher Nolan? So far the Lecter films have attracted AMAZING TALENT. Michael Mann.... Jonathan Demme.... and Ridley Scott..... Who will be next? We should be finding out soon, as Dino wants to shoot in September from the sound of the article... if the strikes are over (if they happen at all)... so we'll stay tuned and give ya the latest as it happens!
