Hey folks, Harry here... Back at Geek Headquarters... Back where my computer works!!! Back where I can once again abuse the written English language as much as I ever wanted did do.

Ok, so there are a couple of lingering questions about some things that went on during the past 5 days or so at Cannes... The first that I'll address is from an article that the BBC ran which claimed, "Journalists were asked to sign a declaration of goodwill before watching the clip."

Now, I was the very first person to enter the very first screening of the LORD OF THE RINGS product clip at Cannes... The night before there was a cast & crew & distributor run through that I heard a few others saw as well.

So like I said, I was the very first person to arrive and to enter the OLYMPIA 2 screening room. There was a lady there with a clipboard... She asked if I was there for the LORD OF THE RINGS thing, and I acknowledged that I was and in I went. My signature only went on a couple of autographs that I had to sign for some readers of the site and my Hotel receipt. Oh yeah... My immigration forms and claim ticket too. But I never signed anything... nor was anything ever offered for me to sign... AND when I attended the footage for a second time, I saw NOONE SIGNING ANYTHING either time.

Now there is always the chance that NEW LINE bribed hotels to let them into people's rooms late at night and then used the journalist's sleeping hand to scrawl a signature to something, BUT I was not concious at the time.

The fact was NEW LINE was both nervous and cocky about the screening of the footage they had at CANNES. Also, the footage was shown at least 5 different times that I heard of, and to totally different audiences each time.

To interview the actors and attend the party I signed nothing. About 2 weeks ago when CHUD, DARK HORIZONS, IGN FILMFORCE and COMING ATTRACTIONS were flown out to the SCOOBY DOO set in Australia there were accusations by some that they too had to sign a 'happiness letter' (my nickname for it), but having talked and emailed to a couple of the folks that went... they say that nothing was signed at all.

I think this is a case of the havenots accusing the haves of having done that which they hadn't.

Now about that Quentin Tarantino... 40 LASHES... Secret Screening at Cannes thing.... I never did get above 6 and 11/23% certainty that it was a truthful rumor, so while the BBC is 100% wrong, I was only 6 and 11/23% wrong.

Quentin was and is still in Cannes... As far as I know he has still NEVER addressed the rumors. Roger Ebert's wife told me she teased Quentin by saying something along the lines of, "When are we going to see that Secret Movie of yours?" to which Quentin apparently smiled in return. AGAIN, that could be coy distancing... Or it could be that Quentin is enjoying the rumor and having fun with it at everyone's expense OR... A rumor I heard around Cannes was that Quentin started the rumor himself...

This is not true, because I have the email that started it, and the only way Quentin started it was by acting like Quentin and being private about his private life and goings ons... Which is totally his right to do... But suspicious dreamers like me... We want to believe that he's working magic with more than a pen and a notebook... We are anxious for him to saddle up again.

So right now... I'd say there is about a 1 and 36/37% chance that 40 LASHES will screen somewhere at Cannes, which is just over halfway done. Why not kill the rumor completely? Because noone in an official capacity has been quoted as denying it yet... So thus the 1 & 36/37%...

Now I must write up AMELIE and THE MAN WHO WASN'T THERE and a rather lengthy piece about the junket process from a television and print point of view in regards to THE LORD OF THE RINGS. I was there for every single step of it... and this was my first real junket trip... At UNIVERSAL's THE MUMMY junket, the producers had separated me out... so I never really saw how it worked... But now I can completely describe for all of you that have always been curious about it.... HOW IT WORKS.... All this and more coming soon...
