Folks, Harry here... Once a year, sometimes once every year and a half or so... A magical event takes place here in Austin where the realm of films hitting the metroplexes fade away and suddenly... Life isn't about what's coming next or what is out now... But rather... the ghost of cinema past visits Austin in the form of Quentin Tarantino. Since August of 2000, Quentin Tarantino has been busy prepping his next two films... Allegedly a War film and an Exploitation flick called KILL BILL... But most importantly he's been planning and plotting... QT 5 Film Fest!
Every year at the Tarantino Film Fests I meet new cinephiles that come from all over the globe to bask in the glory of forgotten cinema. This isn't like Ebert's Overlooked Film Festival... These films in nearly all cases are the films you've never heard of before. These are invisible movies, the ones that don't come on cable, that AMC and TNT just have never heard of. These are wonderful cinematic gems hidden from the eyes of man for nearly all time... Till Quentin Tarantino decides to unfurl their luster upon the sacred tapestry that is the Alamo Drafthouse Screen!
For 10 glorious days friendships are born... Tarantino is there talking forgotten flicks with the likes of you. Not there as a celebrity... not there to sign your merchandise... but to, like you, pay homage to the films of yesteryear.
In addition to the 10 Days of Pics, 2 all nighters... There are rumors of parallel events that Tim at the Drafthouse is throwing with Anthony Timpson including an astounding bizarre collection of theatrical Trailers... the likes of which your eyes have never seen. All sorts of magic will illuminate the Drafthouse... There's only one question.... WILL YOU BE THERE? Cuz I sure as hell will!
