I am – Hercules!!
“Arrested Development,” likely the season’s best-reviewed series, sounds so good I wish they made it an hourlong – so its fate wouldn’t rest at the mercy of “Malcolm in the Middle’s” youthful audience.
… has bite, wit and a sophisticated sting. Shown withoiut a laugh track, it’s the smartest and sharpest comedy of this – or last – season.
… easily the smartest, funniest and most original new comedy of the season …
Critics and viewers clamoring for something unique since the sesh began back in August finally have something to champion ... and boy, is it funny. … and writer-creator Mitchell Hurwitz have drummed up terrific energy, drawing humor from even the randomness of discussions -- anything to do with bro George's magic career, for example, is odd and hilarious.
… gloriously atypical, most notably for how it elicits deep, involuntary diaphragmatic convulsions. I don't know about you, but I'm not used to laughing out loud alone in front of the TV. Honestly, I was startled.
USA Today gives it three stars (out of four) and says:
… heaven-sent for anyone who has longed for something, anything, a little outside the comedy norm. Well, actually, you'd better want to go pretty far outside the norm, because Arrested is certainly out there. … I could live without George Michael's crush on his first cousin, a story given more prominence in a future episode when it really needs less. … But for now, I'd say stick with the Bluths, even when their behavior is more alarming than arresting.
9:30 p.m. Sunday. Fox.
