Rupert Wainwright (THE FOG, STIGMATA) is set to direct WACO...from a script co-authored by James Hibberd.

"Waco" centers on the 1993 stand-off at Waco, Texas, when the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives attempted to arrest David Koresh, leader of the Branch Davidian cult. Four ATF agents, Koresh and 76 of his followers died.

I've been wondering how long it would take The Powers That Be to get around to this. It's a tough topic and, depending on how realistically the subject matter is portrayed, it could be extremely difficult to watch (beyond the inherent political charge/emotional impact of the event). If you've ever stumbled upon images of people who died inside the compound (like the image HERE), you know what I'm talking about.

The second most chilling moment of my life was sitting in a friend's living room on a sunny afternoon, getting ready to eat a hellish goulash of mac & cheese, tuna, and peas (a disgusting meal, but it was bachelor), watching Koresh's spread go up in flames. Throughout the entire standoff, I'd felt the matter would end badly...although in my wildest imaginings I hadn't conjured that. And, no, I couldn't eat.
