Free Austin screening of the awesome AMERICAN TEEN at the Alamo with all the teens in attendence!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I fell in love with AMERICAN TEEN at Sundance this year. Just like last year's fantastic documentary THE KING OF KONG, I've been singing this film's praises to everybody who will listen. It's one of those rare documentaries that is so involving that you forget you're watching a documentary.
The film follows a few key characters from completely different cliques through their entire senior year of high school. The heartbreaks, the misery and the happy, shining moments of high school life are all witnessed, but more importantly we follow young people who are genuinely interesting.
All five of the main players will be in attendance at the AICN/Alamo/SXSW/Austin Voices co-sponsored screening next week, July 10th. We have Hannah Bailey, Colin Clemens, Megan Krizmanich, Jake Tusing and Mitch Reinholt there for a Q&A, but even better... the following day there will be an exclusive brunch with the kids at a local high school with a "nouveau school cafeteria" menu prepared by Alamo Executive Chef John Bullington.
You can just RSVP for the event through americanteen@originalalamo.com, but if you want to have brunch with the cast the next day you'll need to send in your own tale from your teen years... be it a horror story, unique relationship or a glowing memory you have. You can send that in to the same email address as above and a team of Alamo and AICN people will pick the winners, so make it good.
You'll want to spend time with these guys after seeing the documentary.
I'm excited for this to get a real release and for people to start seeing it. I'm head over heels in love with the film (and am harboring a serious crush on Ms. Bailey) and I can't wait to see you guys at this event!
