Think of the worst show you’ve ever seen – “Freakylinks”? “Carpoolers”? “The Single Guy”? – and rest assured that franchise has rabid fans within the Ain’t It Cool News readership and all around the world.

I am astonished at how many readers hold in high regard the shitfest that was Darren Star’s original “Beverly Hills 90210,” a show with such relentlessly flaccid dialogue even the combined twentysomething hotness of Jennie Garth, Kathleen Robertson, Vanessa Marcil and Tiffani Thiessen could not help me endure it for more than 10 minutes at a stretch.

Following an 8-year layoff, Garth, West Beverly Hills High and “90210” have emigrated to the CW, with a whole new batch of beautiful twentysomething actors primed to pretend they’re high school teens.

Once upon a time “Veronica Mars” mastermind Rob Thomas was to oversee the new “90210,” but when a better-paying network took an interest in two other Thomas projects, Thomas moved on. Now Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah, who scripted a pair of “Freaks and Geeks” episodes just as the first “90210” was completing its final season, serve as the new “90210” showrunners.

Will the new show follow CW sister series “Gossip Girl” in its depiction of privileged high school teens indulging cocaine, alcohol, blowjobs and premarital fornication? Hard to say, as the CW has elected not to provide screeners or screenings of the new two-hour “90210” pilot, just as NBC failed to screen its “Knight Rider” pilot movie last February.
