does this movie have dialog beyond Wall*E saying his own name? I know Fred Willard is in this, but I'm wondering what the ratio is between robots on Earth (no dialog that I can tell) and robots in space (where the humans are).

The trailers were amazing and I'm very excited about this film, but Stanton doesn't talk about the story with much enthusiasm in his voice so this seemed like a step back marketing wise. Need to give that man some coffee or redbull next time!

I'm sick of Wall-E

It's terrible, I know. I wanted to see this film, but now, after seeing the same old clips over and over again in the last few months and constantly hearing about "a robot with a personality" and how everyone with a heartbeat is going to love this character...I'm all Wall-E'd out...and I haven't even seen the film yet.

The strange thing is, I think it's been oversaturated on the net and underplayed everywhere else. I find myself not caring about everything I haven't seen, and it's all down to seeing the same footage and hearing the same cheesy "voice" and reading the same articles (every article about this film on AICN has said pretty much the same thing every time).

Am I alone? Is anyone else sick of hearing about Wall-E?

I have this feeling that it could all backfire. The more I hear about this on the internet, the less interested I become...if it's happening to other people, then the audience from the internet community could be lower than expected.

Then talk trailers and tv spots, which will be how the majority of movie goers hear about the film...if they just show the same old lonely robot scenes, without getting into the whole journey through space portion...who's going to be interested?

Sure, young kids will go to see it and drag their parents along, but what about teens and adults who aren't taking their little brother or sister, or daughter and son...will they bother with, what on the surface looks like a cheesy kids movie?

I wouldn't be so sure that this will be Pixar's biggest hit. It could very well backfire on them and it won't be because it's a bad movie, it will be because of how they have marketed the film.

it was fucking mind-blowing when I saw it, and it wasn't even finished. dethrones "Finding Nemo" for Pixar Gold. ("The Incredibles" still ranks extremely high, but that's a completely different sort of story).

Jones and Narnia should come close to 300 million apiece. Then there is THE DARK KNIGHT with about 250 million. Then there is WALL-E with over 200 million. Then there is IRON MAN and HANCOCK with about 170 million apiece.

I've probably seen about as many clips of this movie as anyone else....and I still freakin' love it. When I first heard that this movie was inspired by Chaplain's City Lights, I was immediately intrigued....and then absolutely captivated once I saw the first trailer. I still don't know if I see a real connection to Chaplain's movie, a movie with a beating heart if ever I saw one. But no matter, if Wall*E has half the heart of "City Lights", then we're all in for a real treat. The big question, for me....will this new film attempt an ending as sublime as Chaplain's film....I can't wait to find out.

This movie is obviously not going to be a favorite with the "30-something, single-forever, bitter-at-life, living-in-grandma's-basement, jealous-of-everyone's-happines s" crowd. But the movie won't fail, it will be a huge hit, and it will no doubt be loved by the kids, and likely their parents, of which I am one. Now go back to watching "Trainspotting" and cutting yourselves, you emo fucks.
that's my point...

The geeks are all Wall-E'd out. The general public however hasn't seen much, and while the TV spots will get the kids to the cinema, what about everyone else?

I think Pixar are great. And the ultimate appeal of their movies is that they really are for everyone. But if the TV spots are like the all but the last of the trailers, I'm not sure that people will want to go see it.

In essence, what I'm saying is that Pixar need to show more of what happens after Wall-E leaves Earth in tv spots and trailers and less of what happens while he's on Earth alone.

.. when we get so caught up in ourselves that we start fearing our own publicity. Entertainment industry is EATING ITSELF with this petty nonsense. They'll get it eventually, but for now we find ourselves growing wearing of having to go on ridiculous scavenger hunts to find PROMOTIONAL materials because someone in legal is making a point.. or something. Simple. Brad Bird does not want to do any sequels for that movie. CARS on the other hand, going INTERNATIONAL, Disney Consumer Products wants to milk the can a bit.

He said he's open to the idea because he loves the characters, but will ONLY do a sequel if he thinks it can be as good or better than the first.

Which is as it should be. I can't believe all these moron TBers who are screaming for a sequel. MAKE him do it! We bitch about moneygrubbing Hollywood but actually we don't care - give us more Incredibles, and if it's crap we can bitch then too! Everybody wins! The whole point of making a movie with great characters and great story is that you enjoy it enough to want more. There's nothing fucking wrong with a perfectly formed classic. It's TBers like this that made "franchise" an acceptable term. Why do you think that word is generally associated with fast food?

Do you want more Incredibles or Bird to make NEW and DIFFERENT films which are just as good? Think about it people.

It's like the geek double standard of I won't watch that film and I'll hate it BECAUSE it's (insert running time over 2 hours) minutes long. Even though I haven't seen it. Dark Knight about 3 hours? They better not fucking cut it!
