Can NBC have the Amy Poehler mid-season show not have Amy Poehler in it? That would make it better. Poehler is waaayyy overrated and is too over the top for me. Instead of her, give her husband a show. He is far more talented and deserving.

How the years fly by. Glad to see her get her due on primetime. The woman kills, and if this one's even half as funny as 30 Office (as in, The Office), then I'll be checking it out. It's weird, though, I've always felt, and still believe, that there's a brilliant serious actress buried somewhere in all that smirky camp. Maybe someday, her and her hilarious hubby Will Arnett can do a remake of "Whose Afraid Of Virginia Wolf" that's either (A) incredible genius, (B) a campy send-up, or (C) so bad it's good, I don't really care which one.
Amy Poehler in a comedy = not a comedy

I was surprised she didn't screw up the Walken family sketch on last saturdays rerun by pretending she had one leg or something equally stupid.
So is it true Heroes is getting the post Superbowl slot?

Makes sense since the show fell the fuck off and needs redemption big time. Kicking off part 2 of season 3 after the Superbowl makes sense.

...a really good idea that would make this a potentially great spinoff is the following idea, which I have posted before:

Set the spinoff in the production offices of the documentary film company that has, in the world of the show, ostensibly been shooting what we've seen of the Scranton crew this whole time. In the fourth season and maybe before there was a lot of interaction with the people 'filming' the characters... it would be a really natural way to tie it into the original without seeming forced, but also still be different enough to become something all its own.

What do you say, NBC? Got a job for me? I went to elementary school with Mindy Kaling...

Sorry, but this is too good an idea not to keep going with.

Following character for Amy Poehler:

Been coasting for 15 years doing pet projects for herself and friends on award money from a documentary she made in film school about, I dunno, Mumia Abu-Jamal or some early 90's political reference like that. Mumia seems like a keeper to me, they got a lot mileage out of Michael and Stanley for 4 seasons so Amy Poehler thinking she is down with black culture would probably be funny.

So her talent is totally unknown-- will the documentary they are shooting for actually wind up being any good, could be the sort of overarching plot question of the spinoff? I'm sure the joke about how many hours of footage they've 'shot' for the original Office could be built right into that, it could be Amy Poehler's way of milking whoever's funding the project for more money.

I see her personality-wise as sort of a sub-Julie Taymor self-described 'lioness', thinks she is a creative guru to all around her and a complete artistic genius but actually is an out-to-lunch maniac incapable of getting anything done on her own. But whose talent just might still be there.

Seriously, the fact that they haven't said anything yet about the premise makes me think they've got no ideas. What could work better than this, for a spinoff that practically writes itself? Hit me up NBC!! I need a job anyway.

Right? He's a fictitious character made up by some sitcom writers at NBC. Maybe the 30 Rock people and the Office people got together and created him? There's no way a guy can be this much like every single lampooned TV exec in sitcoms and movies. It's just not possible to be this douchey and clueless.

...from now on, any new comedy on NBC will initially be promoted as a new Office spin-off, and then later revealed to become it's own show. Thus "The Office Spin-Off" will always remain in perpetual development...

I was relieved when it was announced that the new sitcom wouldn't be an Office spin-off. But now NBC will have *THREE* sitcoms "in the style of The Office"? A spin-off will clearly be to the detriment of the original since it will be just like its parent show and almost certainly inferior. This is just overkill. This would also seem to bugger up NBC's stupid plan-a-year-in-advance strategy.
