Hey folks, Harry here... I've gotten quite a few emails from old FACEBOOK friends wanting to know what happened to me on FACEBOOK. Well, apparently my account had too much "activity" around my Birthday. I had received a couple of thousand Birthday well-wishes, and apparently FACEBOOK admins have some kneejerk to accounts that have that level of activity. I don't know if this is the case, but as I hadn't violated any of their "codes of conduct" I can't imagine what else it could be. And FACEBOOK doesn't seem to want to repond to inquiries of any kind.

Hey folks, Harry here with the very last DVD PICKS AND PEEKS of 2008. It’s a short bunch, but then there isn’t really much coming out today other than what you see here… at least that tickles my fancy. We’ve kind of hit the doldrums of Home Video release here for a bit, but it’ll pick up soon enough.

Usually I don't write much about a movie before it's made, because I prefer movies that exist. Every once in a while somebody sends me a script like LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD or RAMBO, but I usually ignore them. I would rather watch the finished movie and not know what the original plan was. And to be honest I'm not sure how qualified I am to tell you about the meal based on the recipe.

Hey folks, Harry here... Last year, I didn't do a top ten - that wasn't because there weren't any good movies, but because frankly - everyone beat me to it and honestly I didn't feel I had anything really to add. This year, I'm determined to beat the rest of the staff to the punch. I will have 10 top narrative features from 10 to 1, but first I'll chat about my pick for the best Documentary of the year.

If all goes as planned, I'll have my Best & Worst of 2008 piece for you in about a week. But here's a little preview: David Fincher's THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON will be at the top of my Best list. I could, quite literally, spend 4,000 words talking about this single film and ignore almost everything else that opened in theaters this holiday weekend (everything except THE WRESTLER; that one will be on my list too). Instead, I'll try to break it down to its essentials.

I clicked over to WICKED LASERS - saw that they did indeed have things that seemed to be Wicked Lasers - and wrote back. "Yes, I would love to review your product"

The frustrating thing about interviewing a living legend like Dustin Hoffman is that you know all the angles have been covered. And if there are stories yet untold, it's unlikely you're going to tease them out within fifteen minutes of making the man's acquaintance. "Why no one ever brings up TOOTSIE, Jeremy! I'm so impressed! Let me tell you about the time I exploded a jar of nickels over Larry Gelbart's head!"

Hey folks, Harry here... I'm being inundated with bullshit rumors from sites that are just attempting to pad their numbers with created and made up rumors that would cause spikes in traffic because they surround a new BATMAN film.
There is not one shred of reality in any of these rumors.
The latest batch has Eddie Murphy as THE RIDDLER and Rachel Weisz as Catwoman and apparently Shia LaBeouf as someone.
If ANY OF YOU believe any of this bullshit, you have found some crazy awesome drugs and I would like to have some of what you're having.

We’re probably the last out of the gate of the 26 partners who were part of this very groovy CORALINE promotion today, so it seems perversely fitting that we’re the ones premiering the very first letter of the alphabet.
That’s right... there are 26 new teaser images for Henry Selick’s adaptation of the Neil Gaiman fantasy novel CORALINE that are landing online today, and each one is oriented around a different letter of the alphabet.

I'm thinking of handing my four pages of Butt-Numb-a-Thon X notes over to a psychiatrist to see if he can determine the moments at which I a) accidentally got drunk, b) sobered up, c) intentionally got drunk again, d) sobered up, e) slipped into drunkenness a third time, f) lost the ability to feel romantic love, g) caught a cold, and h) slept through a great Sam Fuller movie. Alternatively, I'm thinking of burning my BNAT notes because they don't make any fucking sense.

Nordling, here.
I knew I was in for a special BNAT (but they're all special) when I
found myself geeking out with Elijah Wood over the latest Pixar
masterpiece in the Alamo Drafthouse Men's Room. But more on UP later.
This was it. Butt-Numb-A-Thon X. 10 years of Geek Christmas, brought
to us by AICN's Master of Ceremonies, Harry Knowles, in celebration of
his 37th birthday. It was even blessed by Yahweh Himself, or at least
Cecil B. DeMille, when Massawyrm brought out the actual slabs used in
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, and they stayed next to the South Lamar

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a good chat between myself and Mr. Bryan Singer about his upcoming flick VALKYRIE. I haven’t gotten to see his flick, yet, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to talk with the man about it. I love WW2 stories and I’m a big fan of Christopher McQuarrie’s work, especially his work with Bryan Singer. I’m very excited to see them reteam. They briefly worked on X-MEN, but this is their first full-on collaboration since THE USUAL SUSPECTS.

Hey folks, Harry here... I am finally essentially through with nearly all BNAT X prep. THANK GOODNESS! There's a few things to let folks know.
1) BUTT-NUMB-A-THON 10: PRE-PARTY
Ok, first off. BNAT is a party, but over the last few years, we've congregated at an agreed upon location the Friday before BUTT-NUMB-A-THON and gotten a LOT of the chatter out of the way. Cuz once films start, mouths stop - but BNAT is about creating new friendships, as well as enjoying the Saint Jack style friendships that come about through this festival.

London’s starting to feel familiar at this point.
When I was a kid, it always seemed like all the coolest films were shooting in England, and it always sounded impossibly far away. I’d read about STAR WARS or RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK or the latest James Bond film, and I’d try to imagine what sort of places existed where that sort of magic could take place.
