Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. So, those rumors about Brad Pitt being added into Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes flick as Moriarty were recently called into question. Maybe they stemmed from this...
According to the fine folks at The Hollywood Reporter Warners is already gearing up for a sequel and that Pitt is in talks currently to play Moriarty.

The Hollywood Reporter says Nicolas Cage has decided not to take the villain role opposite Seth Rogen in “The Green Hornet.”
The Michel Gondry-helmed adventure, which began shooting last week, is now on the lookout for a new actor Rogen can beat on.
Knowing nothing of the Hornet’s nemesis, have we any clue who would make a worthwhile substitute? Christoph Waltz? Jonah Hill? What’s Terrence Stamp doing at the moment?

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with my thoughts on THE ROAD, which screened at the Telluride Film Festival along with a tribute to its star Viggo Mortensen.
Let me start with a recap of the tribute. It’s not a massive ordeal, but they did show clips from many of Viggo’s movies including A WALK ON THE MOON, LORD OF THE RINGS, CARLITO’S WAY, WITNESS and GI JANE (unfortunately no DAYLIGHT) then brought Viggo out (in a “Make Art Not War” t-shirt) to talk a little.

I am – Hercules!!
This is a movie I’d pay to see!
Gina Carano, the improbably sexy mixed martial arts fighter known to fans of NBC’s “American Gladiators” as Crush, has nabbed the lead role in the “La Femme Nikita”-esque spy thriller “Knockout,” directed by Steven Soderbergh (“The Informant!”) from a screenplay by Lem Dobbs, who previously collaborated with the director on “Kafka” and “The Limey.”

Hey Folks, Harry here... with more on the latest RAMBO - here's the official synopsis that has been being faxed around and found itself in my email box. What do I think?

Hey folks, Harry here with awesomeness the likes of which only Medusa's slithering snakey bush might conceal badassery to match. It seems this is the time of year where little birdies will come a calling with mind-numbing news of unmatched wowitude.
Today - and many other days as well - the metal gods known as MASTODON have been not so quietly scoring the film JONAH HEX. When I asked what it was sounding like, the only response was, "Needless to say, pretty heavy!"

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Telluride has been a film festival I’ve wanted to attend since I first heard of it. Taking place right before Toronto this fest is handled a lot like Butt-Numb-A-Thon in that they typically have some incredible premieres and they don’t announce their line-up in advance.
On top of that, they don’t comp their badges for press or industry people, so it’s not a highly publicized festival. Their badges ain’t cheap, either.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. It's a helluva morning for action film fans. Two Jerry Bruckheimer movies announced, including (potentially) Bad Boys 3 and now we get news of Sylvester Stallone's fifth Rambo flick getting greenlighted by NuImage/Millenium courtesy of Dave McNary at Variety.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm not being cute or cheeky with that headline. The idea of Michael Bay, Jerry Bruckheimer, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence doing another BAD BOYS movie is genuinely exciting for me. Bay thrives in this universe. This is where he's at his best as a filmmaker... making a huge, ridiculously fun action spectacle with two very strong charismatic leads.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Derek Haas is on a roll. He and his screenwriting partner Michael Brandt have scripted WANTED, 3:10 TO YUMA and even have BEVERLY HILLS COP 4 in development.

Hey folks, Harry here at 30,000 feet flying from Chicago to Austin! Love Wifi on planes! Now you may have noticed the DVD COLUMN is not up today. I've been doing extensive travel recently - and just haven't had the time to write it, but when I get home I'm going to start cracking at it.
