Greetings. I thought I'd take a break from my temporary AICN sabbatical ("Who are you supposed to be?" asks most of the readership) to drop in a review. I've been sitting on a half-finished FROST/NIXON review for about a month -- for reasons I'll go into when I finally submit my review -- but as AICN's Australian correspondent, it's fitting that I should return to review the largeness that is... AUSTRALIA.

Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here.
THE READER is most definitely on the end-of-the-year radar as far as awards consideration goes. In fact, there's talk that its star, Kate Winslet, might get both a Best Actress Oscar nomination for this film, and a Supporting Actress nod for REVOLUTIONARY ROAD. I'm always rooting for Kate, who has never actually won an Oscar before. She's mesmerizing to look upon, she's smart, great at selecting worthy roles, and has a great sense of humor about her career and image.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here.
I’ve been a big fan of Mr. Danny Boyle’s work since TRAINSPOTTING and was even one of the only people, seemingly, to dig the hell out of A LIFE LESS ORDINARY. So when the opportunity to sit down with him as he came through Austin promoting his newest, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, I jumped at the chance.

Hey folks, Harry here... Earlier this year I saw a great U.S. Immigration drama called THE VISITOR. It seems Lou Dobbs has effectively drilled into the minds of Hollywood, the notion of Border Tales. Modern stories of immigration gone wrong. In Wayne Kramer's film trailer, we're introduced to the phrase, "Immigration Gestapo." So that will give you an idea of how the film is approaching things. It seems that the story is spread out to give you an overview of the problem - sort of like TRAFFIC did for drugs. Now, I like Wayne Kramer's work...

Hey folks, Harry here with The Amber Spyglass' look at another sure fire Awards time sorta flick, Stephen Daldry's THE READER with Kate "god I love this woman" Winslet and Ralph "one charming bastard" Fiennes! There's a bit of spoiler ahead, but this is more the sort of film that is in the performances... This review will just make you want to see it. I saw MILK today, but am told I can't review it for weeks... but if I could, I'd rave like a maniac after a sexually active Teenager.

Hey, everyone. “Moriarty” here.
Darren Aronofsky’s best movie. Easily.
That’s the short answer.
Mickey Rourke’s awesome. And for the first time in a long time, I mean that in a specific and not a general way.
