Hey everybody. Caponein Chicago here.

DEATH RACE is a film for no one. Neither bloody enough to please the gorehounds, nor trashy enough to qualify as a transgressive pleasure, Paul W.S. Anderson's lobotomization of Paul Bartel's futuristic satire is just a mindless onslaught of incoherent mayhem: engines rev, tires squeal and and cars go boom. Not that this is inherently a bad thing.

Merrick here...

Hey folks, Harry here... One of the reasons I get so upset at Paul W.S. Anderson is that unlike the Toilet Bohl - he actually is attached to properties that I give a shit about. And it isn't that he makes complete worthless turds out of them - but he makes films that I consistently want to believe are going to be good. And I'm an eternal optimist ta boot. Not only that... but my job means... I have to see his films - and each time, I hope... I truly hope that he delivers a movie that will make me take back all my ire and anger and frustration and meanness...

JoBlo has posted images of DEATH RACE, Paul W.S. Anderson's reimagining of DEATH CARE 2000.
When I saw Statham's car here...
...the first thing that jumped to mind were the wheels in the mighty obscure KNIGHT RIDER 2010.

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
I went to see THE BANK JOB on Saturday afternoon (enjoyed it), and while I was in front of the the theater, the guy handing out screening passes offered me one for DEATH RACE on Wednesday night. I took the pass. I always smile when they ask me if I work in the entertainment business, knowing full well I'm not going to go sneak into their screening. I just like being invited.
One of our spies was there, though, and he sent in this quick reaction:

Harry here... It's the Holiday time period. Post Christmas.... Pre New Year... I'm in an incredibly good mood... or was. I think I had completely given up on the notion that Paul (worthless shit) Anderson was remaking DEATH RACE... A film that at one point was to be directed by Jan De Bont and had folks like Tom Cruise and Sylvester Stallone rumored to be attached. But then... like a post-apocalyptic cockroach crawling out of the wreckage of eons of development hell imerges... Paul W.S. Anderson... An incredibly nice and charismatic smoldering train wreck of talent.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Ack!
I guess Jason Statham is reintroducing himself into the world of film. He did that shitty looking and unreleased Uwe Boll movie and now he's trying to claw back into passable films again. The next wrung of the ladder would be Paul WS Anderson and that's where he is now.
He's almost locked in to fill David Carradine's leather as Frankenstein in Anderson's remake of the Roger Corman cult classic DEATH RACE 2000, directed by the brilliant (and late) Paul Bartel.
